Experiencing Gratitude

“Thanks for the invitation, but NO, I won’t do that! I don’t think that’s the right approach.”

That conversation took place more than four years ago now, but I remember it like it was last week.

A dear friend asked if I would lead a webinar for their global group of leaders.

I was thrilled. I was delighted. At the invitation… but not at the idea of a webinar.

A webinar on gratitude didn’t seem like the right approach.

At least not in the traditional sense of a ‘sit and get’ meeting where the audience listens while the speaker shares wisdom and knowledge.

I’ll do something… but not a webinar.

Okay, so what WILL YOU DO?

I don’t know. Give me a few days to think about it.

I remember the day… and the place where the idea for a Gratitude Encounter™ arrived on my morning walk.

It’s built on one BIG idea—

GRATITUDE EXPERIENCED IS BETTER THAN GRATITUDE EXPLAINED.

• An intellectual understanding of gratitude is great… but it’s not transformational.

• A daily discipline of listing three things you’re thankful is a great idea… it’s a good practice

But again, it’s EXPRIENCING gratitude… that’s what changes everything.

I’d love to hear about YOUR experience of experiencing gratitude.
